The Jets allowed 496 total yards in the 35-9 loss to the Chiefs in Week 8.
Analysis: The Chiefs walked all over the Jets, as expected. This team is still highly dysfunctional and tough to trust. However, the Patriots are coming to town and have turned the ball over 12 times over their last four games, and QB Cam Newton was sacked nine times in that stretch. They rank 29th with 19.7 points per game as well. This is a high-risk play and probably should be kept of redraft rosters, but it's worth a look as a contrarian play in daily fantasy settings.

The Jets allowed 422 total yards and forced a turnover in the 18-0 loss to the Bills in Week 7.
Analysis: The Jets held their own and were actually impressive at times against the Bills, but fantasy managers shouldn't let that translate into newfound trust for the team. This is still the Jets, and they're playing the Chiefs in Week 8. The Chiefs average 31.1 points per game and have turned the ball over just five times this year. There's no upside to pair with the exorbitant amount of risk in this matchup.

The Jets allowed 302 total yards and forced two turnovers in 24-0 win over the Jets in Week 6.
Analysis: The Jets surprisingly rank ninth in the league with nine turnovers, including three multi-turnover games thus far. They held the Bills to 27 points in the season opener, forcing two fumbles and sacking QB Josh Allen twice. The Bills are coming off two straight losses -- both against last year's AFC finalists -- but they scored 30 or more points in three straight games beforehand. It's not an offense fantasy managers want to roll out defenses again, especially since all the weapons on offense…read more

The Jets allowed 496 total yards and forced a turnover in a 30-10 win over the Cardinals in Week 5.
Analysis: For a fourth straight contest, the Jets allowed 30 or more points. They have done well with turnovers and rank 12th in the league with seven through five games, but the team's pass rush is flaky and has dropped opposing QBs just seven times. Their Week 6 matchup against the Dolphins is tougher than it appears. The Dolphins average 27.6 points per game and have avoided a turnover in three of five games this year. They're fully healthy, too, and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to compete at a high…read more

The Jets allowed 359 total yards and forced three turnovers in a 37-28 loss to the Broncos in Week 4.
Analysis: The Jets were picked apart by a formerly undrafted free agent, QB Brett Rypien, but did pick up three interceptions, including a pick-six, to salvage their fantasy day. They likely won't be so lucky this time around, as QB Kyler Murray can run like crazy and has an assortment of options to throw to. He has thrown five picks, but he should be able to clean that up, especially with WR DeAndre Hopkins at full health. There's definitely upside for Jets D/ST if the Cardinals don't turn things…read more

The Jets allowed 353 total yards and didn't force a turnover in Week 3's 36-7 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: This blowout doesn't fall on the Jets' defense as much as it appears, as Jets QB Sam Darnold tossed to pick-sixes. Still, the Jets did nothing for fantasy purposes, failing to sack Philip Rivers and failing to record a turnover. The Week 4 matchup is a little better against the Broncos, who have two backup QBs -- Jeff Driskel and Brett Rypien -- fighting for the starting job. The two both played in Week 3 and threw two interceptions and were sacked six times. The Broncos have plenty of weapons,…read more

The Jets allowed 359 total yards and forced a turnover in Week 2's 31-13 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: The Jets have a solid defensive line and have been decent against the run, but they allowed an 80-yard TD run and a 55-yard rush in Week 2. Allowing homeruns is a major concern against Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, and even QB Philip Rivers has flashed consistency this year with a 77.5 completion percentage and 8.1 yards per attempt. After getting torched by the 49ers' banged-up offense, the Jets D/ST has little upside and should be avoided in fantasy circles in Week 3.

The Jets allowed 404 total yards but forced two turnovers in Week 1's 27-17 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: The Jets' linebacker corps took another hit in the season opener, as Blake Cashman suffered a groin injury and was placed on IR. LB Avery Williamson (hamstring) could miss Week 2's game versus the 49ers as well. The 49ers gained 123 yards on 25 rushes (4.9 YPC) in Week 1 and typically favor a run-heavy approach, and that will likely carry on with WR Deebo Samuel (foot) out and TE George Kittle slowed down by a knee sprain. The Jets' linebackers may not be able to handle that, so their defense…read more

LB Patrick Onwuasor (knee) was placed on injured reserve Monday and won't play Week 1 versus the Bills.
Analysis: Onwuasor was poised to make the leap and become a starting LB, but now the Bills will depend on their depth in for the first three weeks of the season. That's not to say that Avery Williamson (hamstring) and Neville Hewitt aren't capable of handling those reps, but the Bills depend on the ground game with RBs Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, while QB Josh Allen is prone to scrambling as well. It's unclear if the linebackers can keep up, and the secondary has plenty of question marks after…read more

The Jets ranked 16th in 2019 with 22.4 points allowed per game.
Analysis: The Jets' defense managed to put together a decent campaign with 21 turnovers (17th) and 35 sacks (23rd), and the sum of the parts made them a solid fantasy asset, finishing 10th in scoring. It'll be tough to repeat the success, though, as the Jets traded All-Pro SS Jamal Adams to the Seahawks and replaced him with serviceable FS Bradley McDougald. Adams is an irreplaceable player, and the Jets didn't come close to shoring up the pass rush or secondary before trading him away, so expect Jets…read more

The Jets allowed 10 points and 260 total yards to the Steelers in Week 16's win.
Analysis: The Jets were able to force two turnovers and record four sacks, so they had an admirable fantasy day. There's a similar ceiling in the season finale, as Josh Allen has been sacked on 7.7 percent of dropbacks -- the eighth-most in the league -- although their 16 turnovers are the eight-best in the league. The Bills haven't surpassed 17 points in three straight weeks, but they were up against the Ravens, Steelers and Patriots. The Jets allowed 42 points and 430 total yards in Week 15's loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: As a standard rule across all defenses, we don't read into what happened when they played the Baltimore Lamar Jacksons. But this unit has been poor across the board this year, yielding 24.5 PPG (20th), forcing just 16 turnovers (21st) and recording 30 sacks (24th). There's upside here, though, especially if Jamal Adams (ankle) is back. Steelers QB Devlin Hodges is fun but he's not good, as the Steelers have coughed up eight turnovers over the last three games he played under center, and he's…read more

The Jets allowed 21 points and 362 total yards in Week 14's win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: The Jets were able to force a turnover, but it was an overall unimpressive outing against a bottom feeder. Now, Gang Green will head to Baltimore for a Thursday night matchup against an offense that managed 44 combined points over the last two weeks despite facing the 49ers and Bills. Lamar Jackson (quadriceps) popped up on the injury report Monday, so if he's unable to play, the Ravens will roll out a similar, albeit much less-talented, Robert Griffin, who hasn't started since 2016. That would…read more

The Jets allowed 22 points and 277 total yards to the Bengals in Week 13's loss.
Analysis: The Jets afforded the Bengals their second-best offensive performance of the season. While that's ugly against a lowly team, it was the fourth straight time they allowed less than 300 total yards in a contest, and now they'll face off against the Dolphins. This isn't the slouch it was earlier in the season, and let us not forget the Jets lost to the Dolphins 26-18 in Week 9. The Dolphins have shown life since that matchup, and Ryan Fitzpatrick has averaged 300.7 passing YPG over the last three…read more

The Jets held the Raiders to three points and forced two turnovers in Week 12 win.
Analysis: The Jets shut down Derek Carr and the Raiders in astounding fashion, and they'll look to keep the engine roaring against the Bengals, who have opted to give Andy Dalton another shot under center. Dalton has been poor this year with an interception on 2.4 percent of pass attempts (14th highest rate) and been dropped on 7.9 percent of dropbacks (11th highest). Joe Mixon has been their best offensive player over the last few weeks, but the Jets lead the league with 3.0 YPC allowed and have…read more

The Jets allowed 17 points and 225 total yards to the Redskins in Week 11's win.
Analysis: It's been easy going for the Jets lately with three straight matchups against the Dolphins, Giants and Redskins, although they still allowed, on average, 23.3 PPG and forced just three total turnovers. The Raiders are coming to town for what should be steeper competition, as their running backs have posted 4.5 YPC (ranked 11th, while Derek Carr ranks seventh in the league with 8.0 YPA. The Jets allowed 27 points and forced two turnovers in Week 10's win over the Giants.
Analysis: Gang Green's defense has been shaky all year, allowing at least 22 points in each contest and coming in at a 26.2 average -- eighth-worst in the league. That normally hampers the Jets' fantasy ceiling, but they're a capable stream against the Redskins, who boast a league-low 10.2 PPG and 30th-ranked 259.2 YPG. They'll now turn to rookie Dwayne Haskins under center, raising the Jets' potential. This will be Haskins' second start and fourth game, and he's yet to throw a touchdown while coughing…read more

CB Trumaine Johnson (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: Johnson took a step back in coverage this year, as quarterbacks posted a 92.5 passer rating when targeting his receivers. He still rung up as the Jets' top corner, however. Shutting down RB Saquon Barkley is the No. 1 priority, though, as the Cowboys succeeded at the task in Week 9 and finished with a win. In fact, they allowed the Giants to take five red-zone trips but only scored once. The Jets may not have the same luck, as they rank 29th in the league in red-zone defense (65.4 percent),…read more
