Finishes sixth in scoring average
Prater struck true on 30 of 37 field-goal attempts and 47 of 49 point-after tries in 17 contests during the 2021 season.
Analysis: The Cardinals finished with the 11th-ranked scoring offense at 26.4 points per game, but Prater himself ended up in a tie for sixth among kickers that made at least 16 appearances with the Ravens' Justin Tucker at 8.1 points per game. Arizona has a number of key skill players set to become unrestricted free agents in March -- RBs James Conner and Chase Edmonds, WRs A.J. Green and Christian Kirk and TEs Zach Ertz and Maxx Williams -- but being attached to a Kyler Murray-led offense should…read more

Racks up 12 points in Week 18
Prater made all three field-goal attempts and all three point-after tries during Sunday's 38-30 defeat to the Seahawks.
Analysis: With the 12-point performance, Prater pushed his way into a tie for sixth with Justin Tucker in terms of points per game (8.1) among kickers who played at least 16 games. While his success rate on FGAs (81.1 percent) is his second lowest since 2014, he has nailed 47 of 49 PATs (95.9 percent) on the campaign. Prater will look to keep it up in Monday's wild-card game versus the Rams.

Matches season high
Prater made all four of his field-goal attempts as well as his only extra-point try in Sunday's 25-22 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Prater tied his season high in points by converting field goals from 24, 53, 26 and 38 yards. In doing so, he not only rebounded from missing three kicks in Week 16, but Prater also helped Arizona clinch a three-point win. The veteran now sports 125 points heading into the final game of the season, placing in the top 10 at his position league-wide.

Misses three kicks
Prater missed two of three field-goal attempts and one of two extra-point tries in Saturday's 22-16 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Prater missed from 51 yards to begin the game and then failed with his PAT after Arizona scored on its next drive. The veteran subsequently hit the right upright with a 41-yarder in the second half, before finally closing with a make from 28 yards. In the end, Prater's misses proved costly and directly contributed toward the Cardinals losing a third straight game. He'll strive to rebound from arguably his worst performance of the campaign in Week 17 versus the Cowboys.

Converts two field goals
Prater converted both of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's 30-12 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: The Cardinals struggled at Ford Field on Sunday, but Prater drilled a pair of 29-yarders in the second half to put the team on the board. Although he saw limited action against the Lions on Sunday, the 37-year-old has now made multiple field goals in each of the last three games, and he's converted all seven of his field-goal attempts while making all five of his extra-point tries during that time.

Drills deep kicks
Prater made all three of his field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in Monday night's 30-23 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Prater was dialed in from long distance, converting from 53 yards twice before making a 49-yard field goal on his final attempt. With a pair of PATs as well, Prater put together his fourth double-digit scoring performance this season. Now with 102 points on the year, Prater ranks seventh among kickers league-wide.

Connects on all five kicks
Prater nailed both field-goal attempts and all three point-after tries during Sunday's 33-22 victory at Chicago.
Analysis: In the Cardinals' last game back in Week 11 at Seattle, Prater put together his worst showing of the season, missing a pair of field goals and an extra point. This time around, he had veritable layups when Arizona's offense faltered in the red zone, connecting from 33 and 25 yards. The nine-point effort ensured that Prater returned to the top 10 among kickers on a per-game basis (7.6, tied with the Eagles' Jake Elliott). Prater will aim to keep up the momentum next Monday versus the Rams.

Misses three kicks
Prater missed two of three field-goal attempts and one of three extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-13 win over the Seahawks.
Analysis: Prater converted his first PAT before missing his second as well as a 39-yard field goal during the second quarter. Although he responded by hitting a 53-yard attempt to begin the second half, Prater subsequently missed a 36-yarder in the fourth. He ended by making another extra point, but overall it was Prater's worst performance of the campaign. Makes both kicks
Prater made his only field-goal attempt as well as his lone extra-point try in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Prater's opportunities were limited due to Arizona's offensive struggles without starting quarterback Kyler Murray (ankle). The veteran converted from 47 yards on his field goal, helping bring his season tally to 77 points through 10 games.

Nets seven points
Prater made his only field-goal attempt as well as all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-17 win over the 49ers.

Just three points
Prater did not attempt a field goal but made all three of his extra-point tries in Week 8's 24-21 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Prater was only called upon for PATs and has now attempted just one field goal over the Cardinals' past two games. Despite his season-low tally in Week 8, the veteran still sports 66 points so far, trailing just three kickers league-wide.

Puts up seven points Sunday
Prater made his only field-goal attempt and all four point-after tries during Sunday's 31-5 win versus the Texans.
Analysis: Prater's seven points were his second fewest of the season -- tied with Week 3 at Jacksonville -- but he remains embedded in the top five in scoring in the NFL at nine points per game (tied with the Patriots' Nick Folk). As a beneficiary of the Cardinals' Kyler Murray-led offense, Prater can continue to be utilized in lineups on a weekly basis, including Thursday's showdown with the Packers.

Nails all seven kicks in Week 6
Prater went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts and 4-for-4 on point-after tries during Sunday's 37-14 victory at Cleveland.
Analysis: Prater matched his season best from Week 4 with 13 points Sunday, marking the third time in six games in which he's reached double digits. Overall, he's missed three of 14 FGAs and none of his 23 PATs en route to 9.3 points per game, which is good for third highest among NFL kickers this season. It helps to be attached to the Cardinals' No. 4 scoring offense (32.3 points per game), providing the backdrop for Prater to be a regular in lineups.

Misses kick Sunday
Prater missed one of his two field-goal attempts but made both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 17-10 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Prater's lone misfire came on an ambitious 61-yard attempt as the first half expired. Prior to then, he converted on a 21-yarder during the second quarter. With five total points Sunday, Prater now boasts 43 on the season, currently ranking fifth in the category among kickers league-wide.

Second perfect game of season
Prater made all three field-goal attempts and was 4-for-4 on point-after tries during Sunday's 37-20 road victory versus the Rams.
Analysis: With the Cardinals putting up 30-plus points in all four games this season, Prater has been busy, matching the Chiefs' Harrison Butker for the NFL lead with 17 successful PATs. Additionally, Prater has vaulted himself into the top five in points per game among kickers with seven made field goals, averaging 9.5 points weekly. He'll look to keep up the pace Sunday against the 49ers' 22nd-ranked scoring defense (25.5 per game).

Contributes toward record
Prater missed one of two field-goal attempts but made all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-19 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Prater's miss came on an ambitious 68-yard attempt to end the first half, which, unsurprisingly, came up short and was then miraculously returned 109 yards for a touchdown, tying for the longest play in NFL history. The veteran kicker got back on track by converting a more customary 34-yarder in the second half, which, alongside four PATs, saw Prater bring his season tally to 25 points through three games.

Hits all six kicks Week 2
Prater made both field-goal attempts and all four point-after tries during Sunday's 34-33 win versus the Vikings.
Analysis: After scoring eight points in the Cardinals' season opener, Prater again was busy with Kyler Murray and company going up and down the field. On this occasion, though, Prater made his one field goal longer than 40 yards, nailing a 62-yarder as time expired in the first half. With 18 points so far on his ledger through two games, he sits in a tie for seventh among kickers with the Giants' Graham Gano.

Near perfect Sunday
Prater was 1-for-2 on field-goal attempts and 5-for-5 on point-after tries during Sunday's 38-13 win in Tennessee.
Analysis: Prater did have one foible on the day, missing a 43-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Otherwise, he was on point, making a 34-yarder and also recording touchbacks on six of his seven kickoffs. Assuming the Cardinals offense continues to operate at a high level behind quarterback Kyler Murray, Prater should be afforded plenty of options to produce on a weekly basis.

Links up with Cardinals
Prater signed a two-year contract with Arizona on Wednesday.
Analysis: After enduring a disappointing year with Zane Gonzalez, the Cardinals are turning to a 14-year veteran coming off seven seasons in Detroit. Prater is a two-time Pro Bowler who boasts an 83.2 percent career field-goal conversion rate, though he dropped all the way down to 75 percent in 2020. The 36-year-old will be looking to bounce back in Arizona this season, and being part of a high-scoring offense led by Kyler Murray could lead to plenty of fantasy upside.

Converts 50-yarder
Prater converted his only field-goal attempt and two of three PATs during Sunday's 37-35 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Prater got one chance at a field goal from 54 yards out and he made the most of it. However, the veteran missed wide left on one of his PATs, and Detroit subsequently felt the need to go for two on a pair of ensuing extra-point attempts, costing Prater's output even further. Output suffers in Stafford's absence
Prater did not attempt a field goal but made his only PAT during Saturday's 47-7 loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: With quarterback Matthew Stafford (ankle) exiting the game early, the Lions had to rely on the ground game against a Buccaneers defense that has allowed the fewest yards per rush attempt (3.2) leaguewide in 2020. The results clearly weren't pretty, and Prater's output suffered as a result. Suiting up Saturday
Prater (back) is active for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Prater sat out Wednesday's practice with his back injury before logging a limited session Thursday, but the two-time Pro Bowler is officially in the clear for Week 16. The 36-year-old remains without a game absence since 2014, though he's in the midst of a slumping 2020 campaign that's consisted of a 74.1 percent field-goal conversion rate over 27 attempts.

Sits out practice Wednesday
Prater (back) did not practice Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: Prater wasn't listed on Tuesday's injury report -- this was an estimation since Detroit didn't practice Tuesday -- but showed up with a back issue that kept him from practicing entirely Wednesday. The Lions play Tampa Bay on Saturday, so it would bode well for the placekicker's chances of taking part in that contest if he is able to return to practice Thursday.

Again limited with FG opportunities
Prater made his only field-goal attempt and two of three PATs during Sunday's 46-25 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Prater converted from 53 yards out in the third quarter, but he blemished his day by missing wide left on one of his extra-point attempts. That he's not attempted more than one field goal in each of the past five weeks coupled with the possibility that Matthew Stafford may sit the final two games of the season, Prater is not an advisable fantasy option in Week 15 against Tampa Bay.

Prater made his only field-goal attempt and all three of his PATs during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: The Lions were able to punch it in for a touchdown three of the four times they managed to get in scoring position, limiting Prater's opportunities. Despite a welcoming matchup Week 15 matchup with a struggling Titans defense, Prater's chances of a bounce-back performance will be dinged if quarterback Matthew Stafford (ribs) is forced to miss time.

No FG attempts in comeback victory
Prater did not attempt a field goal but converted four of five PATs during Sunday's 34-30 victory over Chicago.
Analysis: After attempting at least three field goals in four of five games out of the Lions' bye week, Prater has now attempted just two total field goals over the last three weeks. While Matthew Stafford's thumb injury undoubtedly played a role in Prater not having many chances during the first two of those three unfortunate games, Prater's problem in this most recent outing -- in which Stafford seemed much healthier -- was that Detroit was actually too efficient with its offensive opportunities. Hits trio of short kicks
Prater made a 29-yard field goal and both extra-point attempts in Thursday's 41-25 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Prater remains perfect from short range, as he's connected on all 10 field-goal tries from within 40 yards while going 26-for-26 on extra-point attempts. This was the third time in five games that he attempted just one field goal. He's been tough to depend on with fluctuating opportunities. Prater missed his only field-goal attempt during Sunday's 20-0 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: The Lions had severe struggles moving the ball while quarterback Matthew Stafford played through a thumb injury. Prater subsequently received a single field-goal attempt from 51 yards out, which he missed wide left. Having previously attempted at least three field goals in six of nine games in 2020, there seems to a solid chance Prater and the Lions rebound in Week 12 against a Texans defense that is allowing the fourth-most total points per game (28.0) in 2020.

Prater converted three of three field-goal attempts and three of three PATs during Sunday's 30-27 win over Washington.
Analysis: Including the game-winning field goal from 59-yards out in the final seconds, Prater drilled two kicks from beyond 50 yards, which is his NFL-record seventh career time of doing so. It's also the sixth time in nine games this season that Prater has attempted at least three field goals. Analysis: Prater badly missed his opening FGA from 46 yards wide left but later redeemed himself with kicks from 23 and 45 yards. The veteran has now converted multiple field goals in five of eight game, with 12 total attempts coming from beyond 40 yards. Prater missed his only field-goal attempt but made three of three PATs during Sunday's 41-21 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Missing his only attempt from 48 yards out, Prater's fantasy performance otherwise suffered from an unlucky combination of Detriot's red-zone success and a number of Matthew Stafford's drive-killing mistakes. Analysis: Prater practically won this game for Detroit, first capping off one of the Lions' only successful drives in the first half with a 50-yard field goal as the second quarter expired. Prater then made another from 51 yards out in the third, uncharacteristically missed a go-ahead FGA from 46 in the fourth, then later redeemed himself with a successful 49-yard go-ahead field goal as well as the walk-off PAT that happened to be from 48 yards out due to penalties. Converts two of three FGA
Prater made two of three field-goal attempts and four of four PATs during Sunday's 34-16 victory over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Prater missed wide left from 57 yards out but connected from 31 and 41 yards. While the veteran has been somewhat frustrating to own this season due to near goose eggs in Weeks 2 and 4, Prater has the green light to attempt kicks from 50 yards out on a weekly basis and is usually productive when he gets the opportunities. Analysis: In a weird game where neither team attempted a single field goal, Prater was also hurt by the Lions needing to go for two late in the game. Prater made four of four field-goal attempts and two of two PATs during Sunday's 26-23 victory over Arizona.
Analysis: Detroit was able to move the ball in the return of receiver Kenny Golladay, but the offense struggled to punch the ball in the end zone. Analysis: Prater was one of three kickers league-wide to log at least four field-goal attempts in Week 1, but he missed a 55-yard try wide right. While he won't always get this many opportunities on a weekly basis, the veteran can be counted on for at least a couple per game while quarterback Matthew Stafford is healthy. Prater is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers due to an illness, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: Prater took every rep during the Lions' first two practices of the week before the ailment limited his activity in Friday's session, prompting Detroit to give him a designation for the regular-season finale. Unless the Lions add another kicker to the 53-man roster prior to Saturday's deadline for Week 17 transactions, Prater probably won't be at any real risk of sitting out against Green Bay.

Analysis: The return of Kerryon Johnson didn't bring enough of a lift to the Lions offense to make Prater fantasy-relevant. Hits all three kicks
Prater made a 44-yard kick and two extra points in Sunday's 38-17 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Prater has now hit 27 straight extra points, and he's connected on 23 of 28 field goals (82 percent). He continues to be excellent from deep as well, making six of seven field goals from beyond 50 yards. Prater could hit some deep bombs in Week 16 at Denver's high altitude.

Misses only attempt from 45 yards out
Prater missed his only field-goal attempt and made his only PAT during Sunday's 20-7 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Prater sailed his one and only attempt from 45 yards wide right and he wasn't afforded a second field-goal chance at any point in the second half. Newly-installed quarterback David Blough simply had a much tougher time moving the ball this week against the Vikings compared to Thanksgiving Day against the Bears. There's at least a chance for a nice rebound in Week 15 if Blough can move the ball against Tampa Bay's 31st-ranked secondary.

Two more field goals
Prater made both of his field-goal attempts and both of his PATs during Thursday's 24-20 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: While Prater's stat line was aided by the fact that the Lions' offense stalled twice from within the 10-yard line, he's now attempted at least two field goals in eight of 12 games this year. He also afforded the Lions an extra possession by way of a successful onside kick during the first quarter. Given the relative success that quarterback David Blough had Thursday -- combined with Minnesota's declining defense -- Prater might be worthy of a spot in starting lineups during Detroit's Week 14…read more

Three-makes in D.C.
Prater made three of four field-goal attempts as well as his only PAT during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Prater was good from 21, 24 and 49 yards out, but the veteran went wide right from 39 yards on a windy day in Washington. It's unfortunate that miss wound up being the difference in the game, but Prater at least made history by passing Errol Mann for the fourth-most points in Lions history. Prater could have another busy day in Week 13 against the Bears if quarterback Jeff Driskel doesn't have too much trouble getting Detroit into scoring position.

No field-goal attempts
Prater did not attempt a field goal but converted all three PATs during Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: We knew coming into this that Prater may not get many opportunities to produce, but it wasn't because we thought Jeff Driskel would get the team into the end zone four times. It's actually a great sign for Prater's future outlook that Driskel was able to move the ball on a not-terrible Cowboys defense. While the tune may change when the Lions have to play tough Chicago and Minnesota teams in coming weeks, it's possible Driskel could allow Prater to have a respectable outing in the meantime when…read more

Converts another 50-yarder
Prater made both of his field-goal attempts as well as his only PAT during Sunday's 20-13 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Another 50-yard field goal salvaged Prater's fantasy output on a day quarterback Matthew Stafford (back) was surprisingly not able to play. However, the general ineptitude of replacement starter Jeff Driskel could continue to limit the Lions' scoring chances, so it may be wise to avoid Prater in Week 11 on the road against the Cowboys should Stafford again be ruled out.

Only given one field-goal attempt
Prater converted his lone field-goal attempt and all three PATs during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Oakland.
Analysis: Prater is now one of three active kickers to have converted at least 15 field goals in 12 consecutive seasons, which is obviously a testament to how long the 35-year-old has been a quality fantasy option. Sunday could have been a bigger day if the Lions hadn't had to go for it on fourth down with three seconds to play, though it's nonetheless disappointing Prater wasn't given more chances to produce in this relatively soft matchup. Make sure the weather isn't a factor, but it's possible he…read more
