Placed on IR
Bostic (pectoral) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: Bostic is officially done for the regular season after being transitioned to IR on Friday following the pectoral injury he suffered in Week 16 against the 49ers. The linebacker will finish the regular-season campaign with 25 tackles while appearing in 15 games with the Commanders. De'Jon Harris was signed to Washington's active roster from the practice squad Friday and will provide the team with an additional depth option at linebacker in Bostic's absence.

Suffers pectoral injury
Bostic won't return to Saturday's game in San Francisco due to a pectoral injury.
Analysis: For perspective, Bostic suffered a season-ending pectoral issue in October 2021, so he may be sidelined even if the Commanders end up making the playoffs. Prior to Week 16 action, he had recorded 24 tackles in 14 appearances while splitting time between defense and special teams.

Starting Sunday
Bostic will draw a start Sunday against the Texans, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
Analysis: Bostic will get the nod with Cole Holcomb (foot) inactive for the game. The former has played a big role in the team's rotation at linebacker the last two weeks, recording nine tackles (four solo) on 83 defensive snaps.

Released by New Orleans
The Saints released Bostic on Tuesday.
Analysis: Bostic signed a contract with the Saints in mid-August after they placed rookie fifth-round pick D'Marco Jackson (undisclosed) on IR. The 2013 second-round pick recorded back-to-back seasons with at least 100 tackles before appearing in just four games with Washington last year due to a pectoral injury. Now that he's healthy, Bostic should garner at least some interest in free agency.

Headed to New Orleans
Bostic signed a contract with the Saints on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Bostic tried out for the Saints at the beginning of August, and the team has now signed the veteran linebacker after placing rookie fifth-round pick D'Marco Jackson (undisclosed) on IR. Bostic appeared in four games last year before suffering a season-ending pectoral injury. The former second-round pick had back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons in 2019 and 2020, but he'll likely compete for a backup role behind Demario Davis in New Orleans.

Back in action
Bostic (pectoral) was seen trying out for the Saints on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Analysis: Bostic was placed on the injured reserve by Washington in early October of last season when the linebacker suffered a pectoral injury and he hasn't played since. The former Florida Gator recorded 22 tackles in four games last season. Now that he's healthy, expect the veteran to continue trying out for teams until he finds a good fit.

Lands on IR
Washington placed Bostic (pectoral) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: As expected, Bostic has been placed on IR and will likely miss the remainder of the season. Coach Ron Rivera said that Khaleke Hudson will see increased opportunities while Bostic is sidelined, but Jared Norris is also expected to see additional playing time.

Likely out for season
Bostic (pectoral) will likely miss the remainder of the season, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bostic underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury, and coach Ron Rivera revealed that the linebacker will likely miss the rest of the year. Rivera said Khaleke Hudson will see increased opportunities while the 30-year-old is sidelined, while Jared Norris should also see additional playing time.

Sustains pectoral injury
Bostic will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of a pectoral injury that he sustained in Sunday's win over Atlanta, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Bostic's tests will help determine the severity of the issue, but the team fears that the linebacker sustained a serious injury in the Week 4 win. If the 30-year-old is forced to miss additional time, Jared Norris will likely be in line for a larger role.

Won't return Sunday
Bostic (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against the Falcons.

Enjoys career year
Bostic finished the 2020 season with 118 tackles (61 solo), three sacks, three pass defenses and one interception in 16 games.
Analysis: The veteran linebacker played 92.4 percent of Washington's defensive snaps, up from 91.1 percent the previous year. He still hasn't shown a ton of playmaking ability, but Bostic did have career highs for tackles and sacks in 2020, occupying a key role in one of the better defenses in the league. He'll turn 30 in May and has one year remaining on his contract with Washington, scheduled for a $1.64 million base salary.

Picks off Big Ben to seal upset
Bostic had a team-high 10 tackles (four solo) and an interception in Monday's 23-17 win over the Steelers.
Analysis: Bostic racked up his highest tackle total since posting a season-high 14 against the Ravens back in Week 4, and he sealed Washington's upset of the previously undefeated Steelers with a late interception. The veteran linebacker bounced around the league earlier in his career but has settled in nicely with Washington, as he needs just 14 more tackles to reach 100 for a second consecutive season.

Likely will avoid suspension
Bostic won't be suspended for his hit on Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton (concussion) during Sunday's win, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Dalton had given himself up and was sliding to the ground when Bostic lowered his shoulder and administered a violent hit on the quarterback's head, forcing him to leave the game and enter concussion protocol. Bostic was ejected for his actions, but it appears the league won't hand him any further discipline. A hefty fine could still be on the docket, but Bostic should remain in his starting middle linebacker role when Washington resumes play Week 9 against the Giants.

On pace for 148 tackles
Bostic has a team-high 37 tackles (21 solo) at the quarter point of the 2020 season.
Analysis: Playing every available snap on defense, Bostic has recorded seven or more tackles in each game, including a season-high 14 in the Week 4 loss to Baltimore. He also has two sacks and four QB hits, but that aspect of his production isn't likely to continue, as PFF has charted Bostic with 132 coverage snaps and only 16 plays rushing the passer. A 52.2 PFF grade puts him only 40th among 79 qualified linebackers, but the volume remains steady for IDP production. Bostic should have another solid…read more

Picks up another sack
Bostic had seven tackles (five solo) and a sack in Sunday's 30-15 loss to Arizona, playing 100 percent of snaps on defense.
Analysis: Bostic also had seven tackles, a sack and 100 percent snap share in the season opener, with both he and Kevin Pierre-Louis handling three-down roles. Bostic had only 105 tackles (56 solo) and one sack in a similar role last season, but he's on track for much bigger numbers this year, in part because he's been so successful as a blitzer (four QB hits). He should have another busy day Week 3 at Cleveland.

Back with Washington
Bostic signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with Washington on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Bostic will return to the team he spent the 2019 campaign with. He started all 16 games at inside linebacker last season and piled up a career-high 105 tackles, so he figures to be back in the same role when the 2020 season kicks off.

Starts all 16 games
Bostic started all 16 games for Washington in 2019, accruing 105 tackles (56 solo), one sack and one interception while playing 91.1 percent of defensive snaps.
Analysis: The 28-year-old signed a one-year contract in May, shortly after the team lost Reuben Foster to an ACL tear. Mason Foster was released shortly thereafter, leaving Bostic, Cole Holcomb and Shaun Dion Hamilton to take most of the snaps at inside linebacker. Holcomb served as the run thumper and Hamilton as the coverage specialist, with Bostic landing somewhere in between and thus getting the most snaps of the bunch. With his contract expiring and a new coaching staff in town, Bostic won't…read more

Logs five tackles in loss
Bostic was credited with five tackles (three solo) in Sunday's loss to the Packers.

Intercepts pass in loss
Bostic recorded seven tackles (four solo) and an interception in Sunday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: It was Bostic's first interception of the season and just the second of his six-year career. With 72 tackles on the season, the Florida product needs just two more to pass last year's total.
