Let go by Indy
Nix was released by the Colts on Monday.
Analysis: Nix spent five seasons with the Steelers and played in 60 games (nine starts) before joining the Colts this offseason. He was primarily used as a blocker, as he accumulated just four yards and one touchdown on four carries to go along with 12 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. However, he also contributed on special teams, as he recorded 34 tackles. The veteran is now set to look for a change of scenery, as the Colts are going in a different direction.

Set for usual role with Indy
Nix (knee) will serve as a run blocker and special-teams player for the Colts, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Analysis: It won't be much of a change for Nix after he garnered just four carries and 12 receptions in 60 games for Pittsburgh over the past five years. The 28-year-old should again have a heavy presence on special teams (300-plus snaps in 2017 and 2018) after missing most of last season with a knee injury.

Joining Indy
Nix (knee) is expected to sign with the Colts on a one-year deal, Jordan Schultz of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Though not necessarily an offensive presence, Nix is an exceptionally good blocker. The 28-year-old played five seasons as the Steelers' starting fullback, during which he earned one Pro Bowl nod. The veteran is also widely regarded as a special teams menace, compiling close to a dozen or more tackles each of the past three seasons. Nix could be a significant boost to the team's rushing attack, namely aiding incumbent running back Marlon Mack in obvious rushing scenarios. Nix missed all but…read more

Let go by Pittsburgh
The Steelers released Nix (knee) on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nix is recovering from a knee injury which caused him to spend all but three games of the 2019 season on injured reserve. The Steelers telegraphed NIx's release one day earlier, when they agreed to a three-year deal with another fullback in Derek Watt.

Two touches in 2019
Nix (knee) finished the season on injured reserve having played just 35 offensive snaps.
Analysis: After playing in all 16 games each of the past two seasons, Nix suffered a knee injury that limited him to just three games in 2019, finishing with two receptions (on three targets) for four yards. With just four carries for four yards and a touchdown and 12 catches for 69 yards and another score over his five-year career, Nix is primarily valued for his blocking abilities. If healthy, he will resume that role in 2020, as he has two years remaining on his contract.

Designated for return
The Steelers announced Thursday that Nix (knee) has been designated for a return from injured reserve.
Analysis: Nix was placed on IR in mid-November due to a knee injury. He'll likely return to practice Thursday, but he won't be eligible to play for another two weeks. With that in mind, the fullback isn't available to play until at least the divisional round of the postseason, should the Steelers make the playoffs and advance that far.

Lands on IR
The Steelers placed Nix (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Will miss seventh game
Nix (knee) is ruled out for Thursday's matchup against the Browns, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Nix's absence may not concern fantasy gamers, but the Steelers will need to adjust their gameplan as they play without a fullback for a second consecutive week. James Conner is set up to be the lead back after missing Week 10 with a shoulder issue.

Status uncertain for TNF
Coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that he isn't optimistic about the chances of Nix (knee) suiting up against the Browns on Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Nix missed Sunday's win over the Rams and wasn't able to practice in any capacity last week. He's facing a quick turnaround for Thursday's divisional match against the Browns. Nix plays a key role in Pittsburgh's offense as a blocker, and he also serves as a core special-teams player.

Won't face Rams
Nix (knee) is ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Rams, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Nix managed to play through his lingering knee injury during Pittsburgh's last two contests, but he wasn't able to practice in any capacity this week and won't suit up Sunday. With Nix unavailable as a blocker and James Conner (knee) and Benny Snell (knee) both ruled out, the Steelers' rushing attack could struggle versus Los Angeles.

Active Week 9
Nix (knee) is active for Sunday's contest against the Colts, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Nix had his reps capped during Friday's practice due to a lingering knee injury, but it won't stop him from taking the field Week 9. The fullback stands to play his usual role as a blocker and special-teams contributor versus the Colts on Sunday.
