Inks four-year extension
Lawrence has agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the Giants that includes $60 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Per Schefter, the deal makes Lawrence the third highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL. The 2019 first-rounder is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he notched 68 tackles and 7.5 sacks in 16 games, and now that the 25-year-old's contract situation has been settled, Lawrence is set to continue in his key role as a starter along the Giants' defensive line.

Won't report for start of OTAs
Lawrence isn't expected to report for the beginning of the Giants' offseason program Monday as he seeks a resolution to his contract situation, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Lawrence is coming off a season-high 7.5 sacks and his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2022, but he remains without a long-term deal. The Giants selected him in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2019 and have watched him blossom into one of the league's top defensive tackles, and Lawrence is now entering his fifth season with the club. General manager Joe Schoen said in early March that the team was in talks with Lawrence about a potential long-term deal, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, but…read more

Paces team with 7.5 sacks
Lawrence totaled 68 tackles (35 solo), including 7.5 sacks, along with two forced fumbles and three pass defenses across 16 games during the regular season.
Analysis: Lawrence's 825 defensive snaps on the campaign were a career high, as was his team-leading sack total. The fourth-year pro played in every game for New York from Week 1 to Week 17 before resting for the season finale ahead of what will be his first career playoff game. Lawrence made the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro team for the first time this season and is on the books for $12.4 million in 2023, though New York will likely explore a contract extension for arguably its best defensive player.

Not playing Sunday
Lawrence (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Eagles, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Lawrence will get to rest Sunday, as the team is already locked into the No. 6 seed of the NFC playoffs. He'll return in the wild-card round, while Justin Ellis and Ryder Anderson will be candidates for extra opportunities against Philadelphia in Week 18..

Notches sixth sack
Lawrence finished Sunday's 20-20 tie with Washington with nine tackles (four solo), including one sack.
Analysis: Lawrence tied for second on the Giants with nine stops in the contest and got to Taylor Heinicke on a third-and-13 early in the fourth quarter. The sack pushed the Commanders back six yards, and Joey Slye's subsequent field-goal attempt from 52 yards out missed wide right. Lawrence has already set a career high with six sacks on the season.

Seven tackles in Week 11
Lawrence (back) totaled seven tackles (three solo) and one quarterback hit in Sunday's 31-18 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Lawrence's practice reps were capped throughout the week, but he suited up Sunday and didn't appear to be limited while setting a new season high in tackles. His strong play has been instrumental to New York's 7-3 start, as Lawrence has totaled 40 tackles and five sacks.

Active versus Detroit
Lawrence (back) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.
Analysis: Lawrence was sidelined to start Week 11 prep and logged back-to-back limited sessions Thursday and Friday due to a back injury, but he'll still suit up Sunday. Across nine appearances, the 25-year-old has totaled 33 tackles, five sacks, two pass defenses and one forced fumble while playing a prominent role along the Giants' defensive line.

Week 11 status uncertain
Lawrence (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After missing Wednesday's session to open Week 11 prep due to a back issue, Lawrence returned in a limited fashion in each of Thursday's and Friday's practices. The 25-year-old is currently at risk of being sidelined for his first game of the season, and if that's eventually the case, then Justin Ellis would be in line to serve as the Giants' starting defensive tackle Sunday versus Detroit.

Limited in practice Thursday
Lawrence (back) was listed as a limited participant during practice Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Lawrence popped up with a back injury on the Giants' first injury report Week 11 and was sidelined during practice Wednesday. While the defensive appeared to trend in the right direction during Thursday's session, he'll still likely need to log a full practice Friday to remove any questions regarding his availability heading into Sunday's game against the Lions. Lawrence has recorded 33 tackles, five sacks and two passes defended over nine games this season, and if healthy, should play a…read more

Logs DNP on Wednesday
Lawrence (back) didn't practice Wednesday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Analysis: Lawrence played 90 percent of the team's defensive snaps against the Texans in Week 10, totaling five tackles, one sack and one pass defense, but he presumably picked up a back injury as well. The extent of the issue remains unclear, but the 2019 first-round pick will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.

Dominates Houston in victory
Lawrence posted five tackles (one solo) and one sack Sunday in a 24-16 win over the Texans in Week 10.
Analysis: Lawrence gave Houston's offensive line a major headache Sunday, as he racked up five quarterback hits and was constantly in the backfield. His five tackles tied a season high, and he's racked up at least one sack in four of his past six games. Lawrence leads New York with five sacks this season, and he's already established a career-high mark in that category.

Notches another sack
Lawrence tallied five tackles (four solo), including one sack, in New York's 27-22 win over Green Bay in London on Sunday.
Analysis: Lawrence's sack was a big one, as it came on a third-and-eight play from the Giants' 36 yard line. The Packers were up by a touchdown at the time, and the takedown knocked them out of field-goal range. Lawrence has tallied three sacks over his past two contests, allowing him to already surpass the total of 2.5 sacks he posted last season.

Comes up big Sunday
Lawrence registered five tackles, including two sacks, along with three quarterback hits in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Lawrence was a major factor in New York's ability to stifle Chicago's passing game, as he was constantly applying pressure from the interior. He's played well all season but didn't yet have a sack until he notched two of them Sunday. With the big performance, he's already halfway to the career-high total of four sacks that he posted in 2020.

Contract option picked up
The Giants have elected to pick up Lawrence's fifth-year contract option, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.
Analysis: As a result, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is guaranteed to earn $10.8 million for the 2023 season and slated to maintain his role as a key cog in the Giants' defensive front for the next couple of years. The 6-foot-4, 342-pounder is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he recorded 54 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 16 games.

Activated off reserve/COVID-19 list
Lawrence was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official website reports.
Analysis: The defensive end missed Week 17 after testing positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 29 but returned to the team Wednesday ahead of their Week 18 game against Washington. Lawrence did not practice Wednesday, though, so his practice status is worth monitoring in the coming days.

Won't play in Week 17
The Giants placed Lawrence (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Lawrence has tested positive for COVID-19 and won't be available for Sunday's Week 17 matchup against Chicago, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Raymond Johnson could take on a starting role in Lawrence's absence.

Sack in loss
Lawrence tallied seven tackles (four solo) and a sack in the 37-21 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
Analysis: With his great performance Sunday, Lawrence tied his game-high tackle total of the season while also increasing his sack numbers to two and a half on the year. In addition, the young pass rusher was able to record a tackle for loss and three quarterback hits. Lawrence was the lone bright spot on a Giants defense that got exploited by Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense.

Wraps 2020 with four sacks
Lawrence notched 53 tackles (30 solo), four sacks and two defended passes across 16 games in 2020.
Analysis: Lawrence put up career-high numbers across the boar, despite playing over 50 defensive snaps less than he did as a rookie in 2019. Heading into his third season with the Giants, Lawrence will be on the IDP radar due to his demonstrated consistency racking up tackles, but his lack of upside as a pass rusher will cap his fantasy ceiling.

Gearing up Sunday
Lawrence (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus Washington, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Lawrence hasn't missed a game since entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he'll stay in the lineup Sunday. The Clemson product has just one sack through five games, but he's notched at least four tackles in each contest while maintaining a consistent snap count.

Questionable but likely playing
Lawrence (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Art Stapleton of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Stapleton adds that there's little cause for alarm concerning Lawrence or teammate Darius Slayton (foot), so both are expected to be out there come Sunday despite their questionable designations. The 2019 first-rounder hasn't picked up a sack since Week 1, but he has at least four tackles in every game this season and 23 in five games overall.

Records six tackels
Lawrence had six tackles (three solo) during Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Rams.

Records 2.5 sacks as a rookie
Lawrence recorded 38 tackles (24 solo), 2.5 sacks, one defended pass and one forced fumble across 16 games in 2019.
Analysis: Lawrence impressed against the run in his rookie campaign, though he hasn't yet manifested the ability to consistently bring pressure as a pass rusher. The 2019 first-round pick stands to again play an integral role in New York's defense in 2020.
