Mediocre in return to top job
Minshew completed 24 of 37 passes for 162 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Jaguars' 45-10 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He also rushed six times for 31 yards.
Analysis: While Minshew's final numbers weren't awful on the surface, the fact the Jaguars were down 31-3 before he facilitated Jacksonville's only touchdown of the day with a 12-yard toss to Nick O'Leary tells the tale of what kind of day it was. The rookie was making his return to the top job after ceding it for two games, but this performance wasn't necessarily any better than what the displaced Nick Foles was capable of providing. Ultimately, it appears the Jaguars have serious concerns on the…read more

Back as starting QB
Minshew will return as the Jaguars' starting quarterback Sunday against the Chargers, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Taking over for a futile Nick Foles this past Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Minshew fared slightly better during the 28-11 loss. Overall this season, Minshew has completed 61 percent of his passes, averaged 243.2 yards per game and posted a 14:5 TD:INT in 10 appearances.

Serviceable in relief
Minshew played the second half of the Jaguars' 28-11 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday in relief of Nick Foles (coach's decision) and completed 16 of 27 passes for 147 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed twice for eight yards and had a fumble, but it was recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Minshew's numbers weren't anything to write home about, but they were exponentially better than Foles', who threw for just 93 yards and completed 50.0 percent of his throws in the first two quarters. The rookie certainly has proved capable of providing a spark in the past, however, and with Jacksonville at 4-8, it's certainly possible coach Doug Marrone opts to give Minshew another run with the starting job versus the Chargers in Week 14.

Takes over for Foles
Minshew replaced Nick Foles at quarterback to start the second half Sunday against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: The Jaguars entered halftime trailing 25-0 as Foles committed three first-half turnovers, leading the team to make a change. Jacksonville has been outscored 100-33 in 10 quarters since Foles reclaimed the starting job Week 11, so the team will have a decision to make at quarterback entering Week 14. Minshew can stake his claim to the starting job with a quality showing off the bench.

Headed back to bench
Minshew will return to the backup quarterback role following the Jaguars' Week 10 bye after coach Doug Marrone announced Tuesday that Nick Foles (collarbone) would return from injured reserve and reclaim the starting role Nov. 17 against the Colts, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Minshew performed admirably over the first nine games of the 2019 campaign, completing 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,285 yards and a 13:4 TD:INT. The rookie picked a poor time to have the worst outing of his young career in Sunday's loss to the Texans, as his four-turnover performance was likely enough to convince Marrone to hand the job back over to Foles, who inked a four-year, $88 million deal this offseason. While Minshew presumably won't play in the immediate future, he at least proved…read more

QB decision looming
Coach Doug Marrone will decide during the Jaguars' Week 10 bye whether Minshew or Nick Foles (collarbone) will work as the team's starting quarterback, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie quarterback has played exceptionally well since Foles fractured his left clavicle in the season opener, but he was unable to cement his starting role in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Texans. Minshew had his worst outing of the season, completing 27 of 47 passes for 309 yards with two interceptions and two lost fumbles, with all four turnovers coming in the fourth quarter. The rookie-sixth round pick has played well enough this season to justify keeping him as the starter, but his fumble…read more

Lays egg overseas
Minshew completed 27 of 47 passes for 309 yards and two interceptions in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Texans in London. He also rushed four times for 34 yards and lost two fumbles.
Analysis: Don't let the garbage time yardage fool you -- this was an ugly performance for Minshew, as he had more turnovers (four) than his team scored points (three). Per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Nick Foles is set to be taken off injured reserve and return from his fractured clavicle after Jacksonville's Week 10 bye, at which point coach Doug Marrone will have to decide whether to stick with the rookie under center or turn the offense back over to the high-priced free-agent pickup. Carves up Jets for three scores
Minshew completed 22 of 34 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 29-15 win over the Jets. He added eight carries for 28 yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: Minshew tossed a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, finding Keelan Cole from six yards out and later connecting with Chris Conley on a 70-yarder. He added a fourth-quarter dagger to D.J. Chark, converting on third-and-goal from the eight-yard line to give his team a two-touchdown lead with 4:13 remaining. Minshew's first career three-touchdown performance gives him an impressive 13:2 touchdown to interception ratio heading into a Week 9 meeting with the Texans.

Does enough for third win
Minshew completed 15 of 32 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Bengals. He also rushed nine times for 48 yards and threw a two-point conversion.
Analysis: Minshew threw for 190 yards in the first half, but all the Jaguars had to show for that output was two field goals and a 7-6 deficit. The rookie quarterback finally got his team into the end zone with a two-yard touchdown pass to Keelan Cole early in the fourth quarter, and Minshew added a two-point conversion to Chris Conley to give Jacksonville a 17-10 lead. Jacksonville's defense took over from there, helping the team improve to 3-4 heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Jets.

Roll slowing down
Minshew completed 14 of 29 pass attempts for 163 yards with no touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 13-6 loss to New Orleans.
Analysis: The Vegas pundits were evidently drinking the proverbial Kool-Aid on "Minshew Mania," as the Jaguars entered Sunday's tilt against the 4-1 Saints as 1-to-2-point favorites in many sportsbooks. Minshew has regressed to the mean after a red-hot start to the season, completing less than 60 percent of his passes in three consecutive games after establishing a 73.9 percent completion rate between Weeks 1 and 3. His 9:2 TD:INT ratio is impressive, but the rookie signal-caller entered Sunday tied with…read more

Cleared to play
Minshew (groin) doesn't carry a Week 6 injury designation after returning to a full practice Friday.
Analysis: Minshew logged a limited practice Thursday due to minor groin soreness, but he worked fully Friday, which sets the stage for him to start Sunday's game against the 4-1 Saints, who have won three in a row. The rookie signal-caller is firmly on the fantasy radar after logging six touchdowns versus no interceptions over his last three games and putting up 374 passing yards in a 34-27 loss to the Panthers in Week 5.

Logs limited practice
Minshew was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday due to minor groin soreness, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Any mid-week addition to a team's injury report is worth noting, but so far this doesn't seem like an issue that will prevent Minshew from handling the Jaguars' QB duties Sunday against the Saints.

Another big game
Minshew completed 26 of 44 pass attempts for 374 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Week 5 against the Panthers. He also added seven rushes for 42 yards but did lose three fumbles.
Analysis: Minshew kept his strong run of fantasy performances going in a tough matchup against the Panthers. Both of his scores went to D.J. Chark, with the first coming from 37 yards away on a beautiful throw just over the outstretched arms of cornerback Ross Cockrell. Notably, Minshew also improved his efficiency, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt after failing to surpass 6.8 in any of his other three starts. While the lost fumbles likely cost the Jaguars a chance to win the game, Minshew is still…read more

Manages full practice
Minshew (knee) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The left knee issue limited Minshew's participation in the first two practices of Week 5, but his ability to complete a full session Friday will allow him to head into Sunday's game in Carolina without an injury designation. The rookie signal-caller will take aim at a stingy Panthers pass defense that has allowed only 5.2 yards per attempt this season, the second-best mark in the NFL.

Another limited practice
Minshew (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Jaguars have capped the rookie's reps for both of their first two practices of the week while he continues to manage the knee injury he picked up on the final drive of Jacksonville's thrilling victory over the Broncos on Sunday. Minshew may be subject to some more restrictions again Friday, but unless the Jaguars add another quarterback to roster prior to Saturday's deadline, he should receive the green light to start in the team's Week 5 game in Carolina.

Limited by knee injury
Minshew (knee) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Minshew was visibly hobbled while playing through a minor knee injury on the final drive of Sunday's 26-24 win over Denver. The injury doesn't seem like a major threat to his Week 5 availability, but he's at least worth keeping an eye on if he can't return to full practice participation Thursday or Friday. The Jaguars have a road game against the Panthers coming Sunday.

Bothered by sore knee
Minshew is dealing with a minor knee injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Mike Klis of 9News Denver notes that Minshew came up limping after he took a hard hit on the final drive of Sunday's 26-24 win over Denver. He stayed in the game to lead the Jaguars into position for a last-second field goal and was spotted with ice over his left knee after the contest. Though it sounds like Minshew escaped with a bad bruise, the injury could impact his practice participation this week.

Another multi-touchdown game
Minshew went 19-for-33 for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 against Denver.
Analysis: Minshew led the Jaguars from behind with two long drives after halftime, concluding each with a passing touchdown. Though he began the game by completing just 9 of his 18 pass attempts, Minshew closed the game by going 10-for-15 to put forth another solid stat-line. Though he's thrown seven touchdowns as opposed to just one interception this season, Minshew has not been particularly efficient in his three starts by averaging 6.6 yards per attempt. Still, he's led the team to two victories and…read more

Continues impressing in win
Minshew completed 20 of 30 passes for 204 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Jaguars' 20-7 win over the Titans on Thursday. He also rushed four times for 18 yards.
Analysis: Someone clearly forgot to tell Minshew sixth-round quarterbacks don't just step right into a starting job Week 1 of their rookie campaign and hit the ground running. The Washington State product turned in another interception-free performance against a savvy veteran defensive unit, following an admirable effort in a road loss against the Texans just four days prior. Admirable showing in Week 2 loss
Minshew completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 213 yards and one touchdown, while adding 56 rushing yards on six carries during Sunday's 13-12 loss to Houston. He also fumbled three times, losing one.
Analysis: Minshew got the ball in his hands with under 12 minutes to play in the fourth quarter, down 10 points to the reigning AFC South champions. The rookie sixth-round draft choice was unfazed, leading back-to-back scoring drives and getting Jacksonville to within an extra point of tying the game, but coach Doug Marrone elected to go for two -- a decision that proved fateful as the Leonard Fournette plunge was unsuccessful. Despite the 0-2 start for his team, Minshew has flashed in this thus-far…read more

Team adds QB depth
With Nick Foles (clavicle) slated to go on IR and get a designated to return label, and Minshew the only healthy QB on the Jaguars' roster after Week 1, the team will trade a fifth-round pick to Pittsburgh for Josh Dobbs, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Minshew filled in well for Foles in Sunday's contest and should remain the team's starter for the foreseeable future. However, given that the team parted ways with a draft pick, Dobbs could, in theory, compete for the starting job down the road (once he picks up the Jacksonville offense) in the event that Minshew's play regresses in the coming weeks.

Fills in admirably for Foles
Minshew stepped in for the injured Nick Foles (broken clavicle) during Sunday's 40-26 loss to the Chiefs, completing 22 of 25 passes for 275 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Analysis: Foles left the contest after tossing a first-quarter TD, the victim of a hit from Kansas City's pass rush. He went to the locker room and was ruled out shortly thereafter, but the diagnosis wasn't known until post-game. Foles suffered the injury to his non-throwing shoulder, but such an injury typically requires a lengthy absence. With that knowledge, Minshew is expected to lead the Jaguars offense for the foreseeable future.

Secures backup job
Minshew is set to serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Nick Foles on the Jaguars' initial 53-man roster, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Minshew finished a lackluster preseason Thursday in which he didn't lead a touchdown drive, completing 54 of 96 passes for 468 yards with zero interceptions and two lost fumbles. The rookie sixth-round pick played almost exclusively with the reserves and wasn't provided much help, but it's hardly a confidence-inspiring performance for the team's backup quarterback. Alex McGough was waived Friday, leaving Foles and Minshew as the lone signal callers on the roster. The Jaguars could still opt to…read more

Overshadowed by third-stringer
Minshew completed 11 of 26 pass attempts for 79 yards during Thursday's 31-12 preseason loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Minshew and the Jacksonville offense were only able to manufacture six points on 10 drives, before Alex McGough led the Jaguars to six points over the final 17 minutes of regulation. The receiving corps did not do the rookie any favors -- Tyre Brady alone having four drops -- but Minshew's lackluster performance in the finale brings his preseason completion rate to 56.3 percent, with 4.9 yards per attempt and zero touchdown passes on 96 throws.

Locked in as backup QB
Minshew completed 17 of 27 passes for 141 passes with zero touchdowns, zero interceptions and a lost fumble in Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins. He had one carry for 18 yards.
Analysis: Starter Nick Foles made his first appearance of the preseason Thursday, but Minshew still saw extended action after taking over early in the second quarter. Despite another middling performance, Minshew has all but sewn up the Jaguars' backup quarterback job -- barring an outside acquisition -- after Tanner Lee was released last weekend. The 23-year-old should see plenty of reps in next Thursday's preseason finale versus the Falcons.

Improves in second outing
Minshew completed 19 of 29 passes for 202 yards with zero touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for two yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Minshew managed only 46 passing yards in the preseason opener last week, but he looked significantly better Thursday as he played well into the third quarter. The rookie sixth-round pick is still looking to lead his first touchdown drive, but it was undoubtedly a step in the right direction as he again played with mostly second- and third-string players. Struggles in pro debut
Minshew completed seven of 14 passes for 46 yards and rushed twice for three yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Minshew played the entirety of the first half and was never able to push the ball past midfield, which the Jaguars were unable to do in the second half, as well. The rookie sixth-round pick is the favorite to secure the backup job and certainly didn't play well Thursday, but he still looked better than the QBs that followed, Tanner Lee and Alex McGough, who combined to go three of 11 for 19 yards and two interceptions. Minshew should see plenty of chances again next Thursday against the Eagles.
