Hoping to sign in October
Bryant (Achilles) said he will try to return to football in mid-October, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Bryant signed with the Saints last November and suffered a torn Achilles shortly thereafter. There hasn't been any chatter about the 30-year-old wide receiver drawing interest from NFL teams, but he could make sense as a midseason pickup for an injury-riddled squad. Bryant is five years removed from his last 1,000-yard season (2014).

Running with cleats on
Bryant (Achilles) ran with cleats Monday for the first time since he was injured, Kevin Skiver of CBS Sports reports.
Analysis: Bryant tore his Achilles two days after signing with the Saints in November and now is progressing through the middle stages of a long rehabilitation process. Despite his recent progress, the timing of the injury leaves the 30-year-old wideout uncertain to be ready for Week 1. Currently a free agent, Bryant intends to continue his NFL career and search for a new home when healthy. He hasn't played in a game since December 2017.

Future uncertain
Coach Sean Payton said he can't "forecast the future" with Bryant, who is recovering from a torn Achilles, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Within days of signing with the Saints, Bryant sustained the season-ending injury in practice, never playing a down for the organization. He underwent surgery to repair the Achilles within a week, so he's a little more than four months into the rehab process. At the time of the injury, Bryant was expected to need at least eight months to return to full health, at which point he likely will make the rounds to find a new home. Payton didn't shed any light on whether the Saints will consider…read more

Placed on injured reserve
The Saints placed Bryant (Achilles) on injured reserve Saturday, Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
Analysis: Bryant is expected to be out at least eight months, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, but an official timeline will likely come after the wideout undergoes surgery to repair his torn Achilles. The Saints will move on with a depth chart that features Michael Thomas, Tre'Quan Smith, Austin Carr and Keith Kirkwood as their four healthy wide receivers.

Achilles tear confirmed
Bryant is expected to miss the next 8-to-12 months after an MRI confirmed Saturday that he suffered a torn Achilles' tendon, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The injury occurred during the final play of practice Friday, just two days after the wide receiver signed a contract with the Saints. The 30-year-old will now begin a rigorous rehab process, with the outlined timetable putting him on track to be available as early as the start of training camp in 2019. The Saints promoted Keith Kirkwood to the active roster to provide more depth at wideout, but he's unlikely to see much volume in the passing game during his time with the team. Instead, Michael…read more

Bracing for news of Achilles tear
Testing on Bryant's Achilles is viewed as a mere formality, with doctors expecting confirmation of a tear, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Bryant sent out a tweet that supports the notion of a ruptured Achilles, describing the incident from Friday's practice as "the ultimate test." He's listed as questionable on the injury report for Sunday's game in Cincinnati, but he wasn't expected to play even if he was healthy. Now looking at an extended rehab timeline, Bryant may have a tough time generating interest during the offseason. He just signed a one-year contract with the Saints on Wednesday, doing well to land with a likely…read more

May have torn Achilles
Bryant suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles at Friday's practice, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: While his Saints tenure may be in peril after signing with the team Wednesday, Bryant was listed on Friday's injury report as limited with an ankle injury, per Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. Expect Bryant's status to receive further clarification following an MRI.

Not expected to play Sunday
Bryant isn't expected to play in Sunday's game against the Bengals, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Bryant has only had two practice sessions to learn the offense since signing Wednesday, and the Saints reportedly want him to drop some weight before he plays in a game. Tre'Quan Smith should be in line for a heavy snap count against Cincinnati, with Austin Carr likely serving as the No. 3 receiver after Cameron Meredith (knee) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. The Saints presumably hope to have Bryant available for Week 11 against the Eagles.

Availability uncertain for Week 10
When asked Thursday morning, head coach Sean Payton did not reveal whether or not Bryant will play Sunday against the Bengals, according to Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Analysis: Bryant will have a chance to take the field in Week 10, but Payton said it was difficult to gauge his availability before seeing him practice. Payton figures to provide an update on Bryant's status either after Thursday's session comes to a close, or at least at some point prior to kickoff Sunday.

Reaches deal with New Orleans
Bryant agreed Wednesday with the Saints on a one-year contract, Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater of NFL Network report.
Analysis: Unemployed for nearly seven months after failing to find a team willing to meet his asking price, Bryant finally landed in New Orleans after working out for the team Tuesday. Though Bryant has presumably kept himself in shape while he's been unsigned, his lack of recent practice reps within a team structure could result in the Saints easing him into the mix beginning with Sunday's game in Cincinnati. Though the three-time Pro Bowler is clearly on the downside of his career, Bryant could press…read more

Working toward deal with New Orleans
Bryant and the Saints remain in negotiations on a contract after the wideout worked out for the team Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Though Bryant left the workout without a deal, he and his representatives remain in communication with the Saints, with "all signs" pointing to the 30-year-old eventually landing in New Orleans. Given his status as a three-time Pro Bowler, Bryant presumably has more leverage than most street free agents in his negotiations, though any contract he might sign would likely only be for the remainder of this season. If he and the Saints are ultimately able to come to terms, Bryant could quickly push…read more

Will work out for New Orleans
Bryant is scheduled to work out for the Saints on Tuesday, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Since being cut by the Cowboys in April, Bryant has hinted on multiple occasions that he was on the cusp of finding work, but the 30-year-old has remained unsigned deep into the regular season. Bryant has presumably kept himself in shape with the hope of landing with a team, so New Orleans will take a cursory look as it aims to bolster its wideout corps. Since Ted Ginn (knee) was placed on injured reserve Oct. 18, rookie Tre'Quan Smith has moved into the starting lineup while Cameron Meredith…read more
