Limited impact in loss
Sanders (ribs) caught four of six targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Sanders led the team in targets and catches, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo only threw for 165 yards. Kendrick Bourne led the team with 42 receiving yards, with Sanders and Deebo Samuel both one yard short of that total, but it was Samuel who scored the team's lone receiving touchdown. Sanders has failed to eclipse 50 yards in a game since Week 9, but he'll likely see his number called more frequently out of the slot against the Saints in Week 14.

Cleared for Baltimore showdown
Sanders (ribs) will play in Sunday's game against the Ravens, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: A rib cartilage injury restricted Sanders to limited practice participation throughout the week, but his availability for Sunday was never in any doubt. He played through the same issue in a Week 12 blowout win over the Packers, catching one pass for 15 yards while playing 67 percent of the offensive snaps. A matchup with the Ravens' excellent cornerbacks entails a higher level of difficulty, but the nature of the game should encourage more passing volume from Jimmy Garoppolo, who threw the…read more

Logs limited practice session
Sanders (ribs) was limited at practice Thursday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: The same applies to fellow receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder), which bodes well for the 49ers' chances of having both players available for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Friday's injury report will reveal if either (or both) head into the weekend listed as questionable or free from a Week 13 injury designation.

To be limited Wednesday
Sanders (ribs) will be limited at practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Sanders played through a rib cartilage injury in Sunday's win over the Packers, ranking second among 49ers wide receivers in offensive snap share (67 percent) but hauling in his only target for 15 yards. As he gets healthier, his production is bound to bounce back, but he nonetheless will kick off Week 13 prep with a cap on his reps.

Just one target
Sanders (ribs) caught his lone target for 15 yards in Sunday's 37-8 victory over the Packers.
Analysis: It was George Kittle's (knee/ankle) night to shine, leaving little scraps to be had for the rest of the receiving corps (no wide receiver with more than two targets). Sanders has been dealing with his own nagging injury, and that may have factored in his lack of usage for the second straight week since returning to action. When healthy, the veteran wideout is the top receiver and second option behind Kittle, but fantasy owners may want to wait until he is fully cleared of the rib issues that…read more

Active Week 12
Sanders (ribs) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Analysis: Sanders hasn't practiced much since picking up a rib cartilage injury Week 10 versus the Seahawks, taking the field Thursday and Friday in a no-contact jersey that eventually led to limited participation. Still, he suited up last Sunday against the Cardinals and played 44 percent of the offensive snaps on his way to three catches (on five targets) for 33 yards. The 49ers wide receiver group also will include rookie Deebo Samuel (shoulder), who has turned 21 targets into a 16-246-0 stat line…read more

Expects to play
Sanders (ribs) anticipates playing in Sunday night's game against the Packers, noting that his pain level has gone done considerably the past few days, Kimberley A. Martin of Yahoo Sports reports.
Analysis: Sanders played through the rib cartilage injury last week but was limited to 44 percent of offensive snaps in a 36-26 win over the Cardinals. He sat out practice Wednesday before returning as a limited participant Thursday and Friday, sporting a no-contact jersey to avoid any aggravation of the issue. Coach Kyle Shanahan said he views Sanders, Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and George Kittle (knee/ankle) as game-time decisions for Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, but it sounds like the 32-year-old…read more

Gets questionable tag again
Sanders (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sanders, Deebo Samuel (shoulder) and George Kittle (knee/ankle) all followed the same routine, sitting out practice Wednesday before logging limited sessions Thursday and Friday. Each of the three was spotted in a no-contact jersey Friday afternoon, after coach Kyle Shanahan suggested Thursday that they'll all be game-time decisions. The 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff presents an issue for fantasy managers, limiting the quantity and quality of replacement options if some combination of Sanders, Samuel…read more

Limited in return to practice
Sanders (ribs) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Despite going through stretches but not much more during the part of Thursday's session open to the media, Sanders took a step in the right direction with some activity on the field after no drills Wednesday. Per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, the 49ers expect Sanders to play through a rib cartilage injury again Sunday against the Packers, but it seems likely he enters the weekend with a designation.

No practice Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Sanders (ribs) won't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Playing through a rib cartilage injury in Sunday's win over the Cardinals, Sanders required a number of sideline visits to get through the contest en route to playing only 44 percent of the offensive snaps. He didn't practice at all prior to that game, so his lack of reps Wednesday can't be cause for concern just yet. Still, Sanders' status is one to watch as the week goes on to get a sense of his odds to play this weekend against the Packers.

Availability for practice uncertain
Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated that he's unsure if Sanders (ribs) will be ready to participate in practice Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Despite dealing with injured ribs, Sanders suited up against the Cardinals in Week 11, but he was forced to retreat to the sidelines on multiple occasions before finishing with a three-catch, 33-yard line. Unsurprisingly, the veteran wideout's status for Wednesday's practice -- and ultimately Sunday's showdown with Green Bay -- is up in the air. An 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff could create complications for Sanders' fantasy managers, so the wideout would ideally put in a full practice at some point…read more

Clearly limited Sunday
Sanders (ribs) caught three of five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 36-26 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The receiver deserves kudos for playing through a painful rib cartilage injury, but Sanders was visibly limited and came off the field after any kind of hard contact. Expect him to have his practice reps curtailed during the upcoming week to try and make sure he's a little closer to 100 percent when the Niners face the Packers in Week 12.

Suiting up Week 11
Sanders (ribs) is listed as active Sunday versus the Cardinals, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Despite a rib cartilage injury that kept him off the practice field this week, Sanders will be available to the 49ers offense. It's unknown how many snaps he'll be able to handle, and if he'll be more of a decoy than anything when he's in the game. With George Kittle (knee) sidelined again, targets will be up for grabs to Sanders and any other 49ers' skill-position players that get on the field.

On track to play
Sanders (ribs), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, is in line to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Sanders was unable to practice in any fashion this week, but barring any setbacks leading up to the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, he's expected to suit up and start. Through his first two games with San Francisco, Sanders has immediately stepped in as the 49ers' No. 1 wideout, grabbing 11 passes for 137 yards and two scores on 14 targets.

Hoping to play
Sanders (ribs) said he will try to play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sanders is listed as questionable after failing to practice in any capacity Wednesday through Friday, though he reportedly increased his activity level in individual workouts as the week moved along. This sounds like a matter of pain tolerance, with the wide receiver potentially determining his Week 11 availability after a pregame workout in the lead up to Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Considered questionable
Sanders (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports that the wide receiver missed a third consecutive practice Friday, which comes after an early exit from Monday's 30-27 loss to the Seahawks. The lack of practice activity doesn't bode well for Sanders' chances of making a Week 11 appearance, but the 49ers at least remain open to that possibility, setting the receiver up for a potential game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Held out of practice Thursday
Sanders (ribs) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Sanders took part in the walkthrough prior to Thursday's session but went to the locker room once the 49ers kicked off drills. Coach Kyle Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic that Sanders doesn't require a full practice in order to suit up on game day. Having said that, Sanders would help his cause by practicing in some capacity Friday.

Sanders (ribs) was held out of practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Deemed day-to-day with rib issue
Sanders is considered day-to-day as a result of the rib injury that forced him from Monday's 27-24 loss to the Seahawks, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: As his fourth target of the game fell incomplete in front of him in the second quarter, Sanders went to the sideline clutching his side and then to the locker room shortly thereafter. He eventually was ruled out with the aforementioned issue, which is a rib cartilage injury, per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area. Analysis: Per the report, Sanders had X-rays after he was forced out of Monday night's game against the Seahawks, but the results were inconclusive. Sanders (ribs) has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's contest against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Sanders retreated to the locker room after being shaken up in the second quarter of Monday's contest. Before he exited, he recorded two receptions for 24 yards. Without their top wideout, the 49ers will have to rely on Deebo Samuel, Dante Pettis, Kendrick Bourne and company for the remainder of the night. Continues ascent in Week 9 win
Sanders secured seven of nine targets for 112 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 28-25 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.
Analysis: Sanders paced the 49ers in receptions, receiving yardage and targets, also securing his second touchdown reception in as many games as a member of his new team. The 32-year-old appears to have quickly developed a rapport with Jimmy Garoppolo after seeing his production suffer while in the Broncos' lackluster attack earlier in the campaign. He'll now have some extra time to immerse himself in the Niners' playbook before a Week 10 matchup against the Seahawks a week from Monday.

Scores in Niners debut
Sanders caught four of five targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 51-13 rout of the Panthers.
Analysis: He opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, catching a four-yard TD pass, but Sanders wasn't heavily involved after that as the Niners were able to keep the ball on the ground for the most part. The veteran receiver is expected to emerge as one of Jimmy Garoppolo's top options once he acclimates to a new scheme, but that may not result in much more volume given the team's run-heavy offense -- Sanders' five targets in this one led all San Francisco wideouts.

On pace for 'a lot' of work
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Sanders is "going to play ... a lot" Sunday against the Panthers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Shipped from Denver to San Francisco on Tuesday, Sanders has been in the 49ers' program for just three days, but Shanahan is confident the veteran wide receiver will be a significant part of the offense right away. Sanders may be helped by the fact that Marquise Goodwin (personal) is questionable to play, while Dante Pettis (knee) and Deebo Samuel (groin) will be available but dealt with health concerns this week. Whatever the case, Sanders figures to be part of the game plan.

Expected to play versus Panthers
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he expects Sanders to suit up against the Panthers on Sunday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Sanders was traded from the Broncos to the 49ers on Tuesday. It remains to be seen how much of San Francisco's playbook Sanders will manage to digest before Sunday's contest against Carolina, but it's evident that the team intends to begin incorporating him into the aerial attack immediately in some capacity. The veteran wideout will be a boom-or-bust fantasy option while he gets up to speed in the 49ers' offense, with clear upside to develop into a consistent weekly option going forward.

Dealt to San Francisco
The 49ers acquired Sanders and a 2020 fifth-round pick from the Broncos on Tuesday in exchange for 2020 third- and fourth-round selections, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: After Mohamed Sanu was dealt to the Patriots earlier Tuesday, Sanders became one of the few established receivers left on the trade market. The 49ers acted quickly to bring the veteran into the fold and will likely immediately install him as a starter in Sunday's game against the Panthers. Sanders has made an impressive recovery from the Achilles surgery he required last December, playing in all seven of Denver's games and nabbing 30 of 44 targets for 367 yards and two touchdowns.

Makes five grabs in loss
Sanders (knee) brought in five of six targets for 60 yards in the Broncos' 30-6 loss to the Chiefs on Thursday.
Analysis: Sanders was second in receptions, receiving yards and targets behind Courtland Sutton for the Broncos on the night. The veteran receiver had gone through an utterly forgettable two-game stretch coming into Thursday's contest, as he'd secured just two of four targets for nine yards combined in Weeks 5 and 6. Therefore, Sanders and fantasy managers will hope he can carry over the momentum into a Week 8 battle versus the Colts a week from Sunday.

Sanders (knee) will suit up against the Chiefs on Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
Analysis: Sanders doesn't carry an injury designation into the Week 7 contest, indicating that he's put his knee issue behind him. Sanders (knee) was listed as a full participant on Tuesday's injury report, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: Earlier Tuesday, coach Vic Fangio said Sanders would return to practice, but the fact the Broncos released an estimate indicates they didn't do much more on-field work than a walkthrough. He departed Sunday's 16-0 win versus the Texans due to a knee injury, but the issue isn't believed to be severe, according to James Palmer of NFL Network. Sanders (knee) was listed as a limited participant in Monday's practice estimate, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Sanders didn't play after halftime of Sunday's win over the Titans, and he wasn't himself during the first half. His limited participation is just an estimate since the Broncos didn't host an actual practice Monday, but it supports the Broncos' belief that he'll be ready for Thursday's game against the Chiefs. Sanders' knee injury is not believed to be serious, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.
Analysis: Sanders was unable to finish Sunday's game against the Titans because of his injury, but the report indicates there is "not much concern" about his status for Week 7, even with the Broncos' next game coming Thursday night against the Chiefs. Analysis: The same applies to fellow wideout Courtland Sutton (lower leg), though at this stage there's nothing to suggest that either player is in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Titans. Analysis: Sanders played his typical allotment of snaps en route to five catches (on nine targets) for 104 yards. Still, he relayed that the quad issue was the reason he awkwardly went to the ground near the end of the game, and afterward he "was struggling to put on my shoes." Tops 100 yards

Analysis: Sanders led the team in yards and tied a team high with nine targets. He connected with Joe Flacco on several big receptions of 13, 39, 16 and 27 yards, another clear indication that the pair have developed rapport. As a result, Sanders has now recorded at least 85 yards in three of four contests, made particularly impressive by the fact that he's returning from an Achillies injury in December of 2018. Prior to that, Sanders has turned in back-to-back strong fantasy efforts, and assuming his quad issue is nothing major, he'll look to rebound this weekend against a Jacksonville defense that's been sturdy over the last couple of weeks.

Frustrated after 10-yard game
Sanders caught two of four passes for 10 yards during Sunday's 27-16 loss in Green Bay. He voiced his displeasure after the game, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: It was a rough game for Sanders as, per head coach Vic Fangio, Green Bay played a ton of sub-packages -- daring Denver to run. The results were not great for Sanders, though he did have back-to-back games with at least 85 yards and a touchdown heading into Sunday. The veteran is frustrated after a series of tough losses, but he'll have to focus to rebound against a swarming Jacksonville defense.

Scores again in Week 2 loss
Sanders caught 11 of 13 targets for 98 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Bears. He also caught a two-point conversion.
Analysis: The veteran receiver was once again Joe Flacco's top option in the passing game, with no other Denver player catching more than five passes. Sanders is clearly fully recovered from last year's Achilles injury, and while he hasn't topped 1,000 yards in a season since 2016, the 32-year-old is well on his way to getting there again.

Huge second half against Raiders
Sanders caught five of seven targets for 86 yards and one touchdown during Monday's 24-16 loss to Oakland.
Analysis: In what was his first regular-season outing since rupturing his Achilles tendon in an early-December practice last year, Sanders emerged as the contest transitioned into crunch time. He didn't register his first catch -- a six-yard gain -- until the final two minutes of the first half, but erupted after the half-time whistle by hauling in four of his five targets for 80 yards and catching a touchdown that helped get Denver within one possession late in the fourth quarter. Breaks long run
Sanders caught one of two targets for five yards and rushed once for 19 yards in Monday night's 24-15 preseason loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: Sanders' first action since his Achilles injury in early December saw him haul in a pass on Denver's first offensive play. The wideout then went for a long run around the right end three plays later, displaying his usual shiftiness in the open field. In fact, Sanders also connected with quarterback Joe Flacco on a 45-yard bomb toward the end of the first quarter, but that reception was nullified by a holding penalty. Ready for preseason appearance
Sanders (Achilles) is in line to play in Monday's preseason game against San Francisco, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: Renck also notes that the 32-year-old wide receiver appears poised for a big season, based on his heavy usage with the first-team offense in practice. Sanders confirmed Monday that he's on track to play Week 1 and doesn't expect to have a limited snap count at the beginning of the season. His rapid recovery from a torn Achilles and a minor ankle procedure is great news for the Denver offense, though Joe Flacco's presence under center hints at limited upside for the passing attack as a whole.

Doesn't anticipate snap count
Sanders (Achilles) does not expect to be on a snap count Week 1, Zac Stevens of BSNDenver.com reports.
Analysis: Sanders is progressing well in his recovery from an Achilles injury for which he underwent surgery Dec. 6 and appears on pace to be active Week 1 -- though we don't yet have a hint whether he'll realize his predictions of being fully recovered for the start of the regular season. Sanders would be heading in the right direction if he were to first participate in preseason action, so the veteran will likely target an Aug. 24 appearance. Also underwent ankle surgery
Sanders revealed Monday that he had a "tightrope" procedure on his right ankle in the offseason while he was recovering from surgery on a torn left Achilles, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: Sanders initially injured the ankle on Oct. 15, 2017, missing four of the Broncos' final 11 games that season. The injury impacted him throughout the ensuing offseason, but it didn't stop him from racking up 71 catches (on 98 targets) for 868 yards and four touchdowns in 12 contests in 2018 before picking up the Achilles tear. Sanders seems to have taken the prudent approach by addressing the first issue while rehabbing the more serious one, and the results have been impressive by any metric.…read more

Preseason action likely
Coach Vic Fangio said he expects Sanders (Achilles) to make an appearance during the preseason, Zac Stevens of BSNDenver.com reports.
Analysis: Despite undergoing surgery on a torn left Achilles on Dec. 6, Sanders has been bullish about his ability to be available Week 1. Clearly, any game action before then would back up his belief, but the Broncos also are unlikely to clear him for such activity if they're less confident in his ability to get through it unscathed. Becoming Flacco's go-to target
The chemistry between Sanders (Achilles) and quarterback Joe Flacco is developing, Ryan Koenigsberg of BSN Denver reports.
Analysis: Koenigsberg noted that Sanders was Flacco's first target of the 11-on-11 period Monday and was later part of an impressive string of plays on offense. Other reports have come in about Sanders moving all around the formation for the Broncos. Analysis: Sanders began participating in 7-on-7 drills last week and now takes another big step forward as he resumes 11-on-11 work. The veteran wideout appears on track to be cleared for full practice participation within the next few weeks and is making good time in his recovery from an Achilles tear. Begins 7-on-7 work
Sanders (Achilles) participated in 7-on-7 drills at Wednesday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Previously limited to individual drills at training camp, Sanders took a big step forward Wednesday with a handful of reps in 7-on-7s. He hopes to be cleared for full participation in two or three weeks, with an eye toward suiting up for Week 1 in Oakland. The 32-year-old is ahead of the typical rehab timeline for an Achilles tear, but it remains to be seen if he can regain his prior explosiveness.

Sanders (Achilles) was limited to individual drills Thursday but should be a full go in practice within two or three weeks, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Less than eight months removed from suffering an Achilles tear, Sanders looked comfortable running routes and quickly changing direction during Denver's first practice of training camp. Video clips from non-contact sessions don't prove he's regained his explosiveness, but it does at least appear he's on the right track toward playing Week 1. Won't start camp on PUP list
General manager John Elway said Wednesday that Sanders (Achilles) won't be placed on the Broncos' PUP list at the start of training camp, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: That said, because Sanders is bouncing back from December Achilles' surgery, he'll be "eased in" to practice over the next few weeks. Sanders previously acknowledged that would be the case, and while he won't be full-go out of the gate, there's still time for fantasy observers to gather intel on the 32-year-old's recovery prior to the heart of draft and auction season. Analysis: Sanders has made impressive progress from a torn Achilles, which wiped out his ninth pro season Dec. 5. To date, he's been running full speed since early May, and on June 7 he progressed to route running that included sharp cuts. Unsure about training camp
Sanders (Achilles) said Tuesday that he isn't sure if he'll be ready for the start of training camp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Sanders has been documenting his rehab progress on Instagram, recently posting a recent video that showed him cutting and running routes. Reports in March and April suggested the wideout was ahead of the typical recovery schedule for an Achilles tear, but Sanders framed things differently in early May, claiming to be neither ahead of schedule nor behind. Sanders (Achilles) said Tuesday that his rehab is neither ahead of schedule nor behind, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports. "When I do run full speed, I feel good," Sanders said. "I wouldn't say we're ahead of schedule, I wouldn't say we're behind schedule. I just feel like we're somewhere in between."
Analysis: Sanders is now six months deep in the rehab process and ran with cleats Friday for the first time since suffering a torn Achilles on Dec. 5. Early reports of the 32-year-old wideout being ahead of schedule seem to have been overstated, as Sanders acknowledged Tuesday he isn't sure about his availability for training camp. Runs with cleats on
Sanders (Achilles) ran with cleats Friday for the first time since he was injured, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 32-year-old wideout reportedly is making good progress in his rehab from the torn Achilles he suffered Dec. 5. The timing of the injury leaves him uncertain to be ready for Week 1, though the Broncos seem to be counting on his availability given their lack of high-profile offseason additions at wide receiver. Analysis: Sanders suffered the injury during practice Dec. 5 and underwent surgery shortly thereafter. Differing reports have noted a 6-to-8-month recovery and his own confidence that he'll be ready by Week 1, which both seem optimistic due to the timeline for a typical player from such a procedure. Analysis: Sanders carries a $10.15 million base salary for the final season of his three-year contract, with $1.5 million becoming guaranteed at some point this offseason. It's a big expense for a player who will be nine months removed from an Achilles tear at the start of his age-32 season, but the Broncos apparently are confident Sanders can be a top target for new quarterback Joe Flacco. Analysis: Coming off a torn Achilles suffered Dec. 5 and entering the final season of his three-year deal, Sanders surely can read between the lines that any restructure would involve a significant pay cut. Of course, he may be putting himself in danger of an outright release, as the Broncos can't be thrilled about the prospect of paying a $10.15 million base salary (per OverTheCap.com) to a player who's no lock to be ready for Week 1 of his age-32 season. Analysis: Sanders originally tore his ACL in early December and was given a six-month timeline for his recovery. He appears to have avoided any setbacks in the two months since suffering the injury, and while it seems unlikely he'll be available for OTAs this spring, Sanders should be ready to go well before the start of training camp. Emerged as No. 1 target in 2018
Sanders (Achilles) caught 71 of 98 targets for 868 yards and four touchdowns during an injury-shortened 2018 campaign. He added 53 yards and a touchdown on four carries and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass during the season.
Analysis: Sanders missed the final quarter of the season with a torn Achilles, but still managed to lead the team in catches, targets, yards and touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who many thought was going to be cut last offseason. Instead, it was Demaryius Thomas who was sent packing. Analysis: The comment hints at uncertainty about his future in Denver, where it may be time for a mini-rebuild after the firing of coach Vance Joseph at the end of a 6-10 campaign. The Broncos joined the playoff hunt with three straight wins Weeks 11-13, but they then lost four straight to close out the season after Sanders suffered a torn Achilles during a Week 14 practice. The Broncos placed Sanders (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: The transaction confirms that Sanders suffered a torn left Achilles' tendon during practice earlier in the day. Likely dealing with torn Achilles
The Broncos believe Sanders suffered a torn left Achilles' tendon during Wednesday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The report comes through about 20 minutes after the injury occurred, so there's obviously still testing to be done before a diagnosis is revealed. However, the initial test for a torn Achilles is usually accurate, and there were multiple reports of Sanders reacting in a manner that hinted at a serious injury. If the initial expectation is confirmed, the 31-year-old wideout would miss the rest of this season and face a challenging path to make it back for the 2019 opener.

It's too soon to arrive at any conclusions, but there's no doubt the situation will need to be carefully monitored in the coming hours. Good to go for Week 13
Sanders (heel) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bengals, Zac Stevens of BSNDenver.com reports.
Analysis: Sanders remained limited in practice Friday after the heel injury restricted his reps a day earlier, but his lack of designation heading into the weekend indicates the Broncos aren't worried about his health. The wideout should be on tap for a full slate of snaps and rates as a quality lineup option in just about any format after registering seven catches for 86 yards and a touchdown across 12 targets in the Broncos' Week 12 win over the Steelers.

"It's just soreness," coach Vance Joseph said of the wideout's limitations Thursday. "We're just taking it slow and being smart, that's all." Analysis: Though he's now locked in as Denver's clear No. 1 target after Demaryius Thomas was traded to Houston ahead of the Week 9 matchup, Sanders was unable to do much with the opportunity, as he finished with his lowest yardage output in five games.
